The Story
Tyler Shelton started painting portraits of rock stars at 20 and turned his Instagram into a business before he was 30. The practice moved from music iconography toward a broader pop culture range — thick acrylic, stencil confidence, celebrity portraits that treat fame as a material like any other. Bright, cheeky, and backed by real craft.
Tyler Shelton is an Austin-based, self-taught artist working across painting, collage, and mixed media. Drawing on the visual language of vintage advertising, pop iconography, and mid-century commercial design, his work is bold, textural, and instantly recognizable built to feel familiar even before you know why. Influenced by Warhol, Basquiat, and the indie rock records he grew up with, Shelton creates art that functions like a favorite song a fast, complete transmission of a point of view.
