Agus Rucula paints the human figure at mural scale, but the wall is only half the subject. The other half is the encounter around it: dancers, neighbors, assistants, whoever helped prepare the surface, whoever stops on the sidewalk after. Photography and choreography sit close to the painting practice, which is probably why the figures rarely feel fixed. They look caught in relation to something just outside the frame.
