Artwork Q&A / Return to self

In the artist's words.

Tania Yakunova on Return to self.

What inspired or frustrated you when creating these pieces?

I was thinking about my childhood. I grew up on a tiny street next to a huge forest. I had a deep connection with nature that fascinated me in a unique way.

I kind of put away and hid that influence when I grew up, gave up on the more city-like modern way of living. Now I got it back, in my thirties. I feel like finally returning to myself. I guess that’s the essence of these works.

What excites you most about creating in this new medium and being part of the project?

I absolutely adore the idea, the design, and the approach. The lamp looks so cool, and the light adds something new to the artwork.

I love collecting and making beautiful objects. I’m very happy to get my hands on this one!

What do you want people to feel when they hold or experience your work?

I guess the marvel of life, the touch of the beauty of the world around us, maybe a safe place in this very mad world.

Or something completely different. I think interpretation is part of the beauty of art.

Who or what are your main inspirations and influences?

Life itself.
